After years of dreaming, hoping, praying ...and crying, I, Camille Hammond, became a mother at the age of 29. On Dec. 28, 2004, my family was blessed with the births of our three children. Our triplets made headlines around the world as news spread that my 55-year-old post-menopausal mother, Tinina Q. Cade, successfully served as my gestational surrogate. That success was sweet, but the path that led us to this point was anything but smooth.
During our quest to have children, my husband and I experienced many highs and lows. The happy occasions were certainly there, yet some of the most important lessons we learned came about as a result of failure. If we were to repeat this process, many things would be done differently.
The foundation has grown from my solo operation to a team of dedicated professionals from various fields working toward the same goal. Through the Tinina Q. Cade Foundation Inc., we strive to grow families struggling with infertility, and provide resources to these families to OVERCOME infertility. We also seek to educate and sensitize those who are unaffected in meaningful and significant ways.
Dr. Tinina Q. Cade is a wife to her best friend of 28 years, a mother to three adult children, and a university administrator. At age 55, recognizing her daughter's emotional suffering due to infertility, she served as her daughter's gestational surrogate. On Dec. 28, 2004, Tinina Q. Cade delivered her own three healthy grandchildren.
