2010 Cade Foundation Family Building Grant
The Tinina Q. Cade Foundation's Family Building Grant provides up to $10,000 per funded family to help with costs of domestic adoption and medical fertility treatment. The only restrictions for applying are
1) You MUST have a diagnosis of infertility from your doctor
2) You MUST be a legal permanent US resident
There are no age limitations or other restrictions currently. The grant is offered once per year, and the number of applications funded as well as the amount of funding depends on the success of the Cade Foundation's fundraising activities (i.e. the more we raise, the more we can give away). To date 15 families have been funded (not including 2010 awardees- who will be announced in September of this year). Although the deadline to submit an application this year has passed- we will offer another round of grants in 2011. All of our grants are Family Building Grants but we have a special pool of funds set aside for "Savannah Grants" which are only available to Shady Grove Fertility patients undergoing IVF.
Savannah's Grant
You can also support the Savannah memorial Fund by coming out to Savannah's Playground- a fun child focused complementary activity being held in conjunction with the TQCF MD Race for the Family on Sunday September 26, 2010 from 8AM until 11AM. The event is free, but donations are accepted and appreciated. There will be a sidewalk chalk art festival, a "toddler trot", a silent auction featuring child focused items, face painting and lots of information booths hosted by child safety and education focused resources.
2010 Cade Foundation Family Building Grant
Thank you for your interest in the Tinina Q. Cade Family Building Grant. This year, 148 applicants submitted applications for Family Building Grants from 40 states. All of our grant applicants were extremely impressive and we are hopeful that they will all achieve their dreams of parenthood. The ONLY eligibility requirements for applying for the grant were
* Confirmed diagnosis of infertility
*Legal permanent US resident status (Greencard or Citizen)
Eligibility Requirements
To be eligible for a Family Building Grant, applicants must:
- Have documented infertility
- Be a legal permanent US resident (green card or citizens only) that resides in the United States
- Complete the Family Building Grant application in full (including the online registration and the written grant application that should be mailed in)
- Submit a $50 application processing fee online with Part 1 of the grant application (please note- you only register ONCE and do not need to send in an additional check with your Part II of the grant)
The downladable 2010 Family Building Grant application will be available officially February 1, 2011 on http://www.cadefoundation.org/.

Both portions of application (as well as the medical history forms) must be received by the Cade Foundation no later than June 15, 2010 for the application to be considered. Incomplete or late applications will not be reviewed. Part II of the grant and the medical history forms must be mailed into the Cade Foundation's PO box (PO Box 372, Owings Mills, MD 21117). Items that are faxed, delivered by courrier to the Cade Foundation's office or sent by any means other than delivery to the PO box will not be considered. Applicants will be notified by email about funding decisions by September 30, 2010.

Applicants have requested information on previous grantees. This profile (below) is very general and does not in any way suggest that families and or individuals who do not fit the profile will not receive grants, or that others were not given fair consideration for previous awards. It is simply descriptive of families who were selected previously to receive Family Building Grant awards.
Grant Application:
This year, the grant will consist of 2 portions- one that involves online registration, and one that involves downloading the application and medical history forms from our website, (TO DOWNLOAD PART 2 CLICK HERE and CLICK HERE for MALE questionnaire CLICK HERE for FEMALE questionnaire). The online registration will open on January 1, 2011 anyone who wants to get started before February 1, 2011. To get started, REGISTER FOR PART ONE BY CLICKING HERE. Remember- you MUST fill out and submit BOTH online as well as the 3 downloadable portions of the application for your application to be considered complete. Please also make sure you turn in the Medical Questionnaire (CLICK HERE for MALE questionnaire CLICK HERE for FEMALE questionnaire) for each applicant with your application.
The 2nd portion of the grant 2011 Family Building Grant will be available at all 2010 outreach/ education activities (throughout the US) starting in January 2010, and will be available online from February 1, 2010 through June 15, 2010.

Selection Process
The Tinina Q. Cade Foundation Selection Committee is responsible for the review of all Family Building Grant applications and makes the decision about funding. All complete applications will be reviewed and considered regardless of color, race, religion, national origin, sex, sexual orientation, elderliness, familial status, or handicap.
Additional Family Building Grant Details
- Grant funding will not exceed $10,000 per family.
- Grant will provide financial support to assist with costs associated fertility treatment or domestic adoption and must be used between January 1, 2011 and December 31, 2011.
- Grant application must provide a detailed plan of how grant applicants will contribute to overall costs associated with fertility treatment or domestic adoption.
- Grant MUST be used for the purposes described in the original grant application.
- Submitted applications must be complete to be considered. Applications missing any information or attachments will not be reviewed.
- To allow us to continue to grow, we ask that all grant recipients participate in fundraising efforts and raise the amount of their award in the years following their grant.
Application Timeline:
- February 1, 2011 : Applications are available online
- May 1, 2011; June 1, 2011 : Teleconference Question and Answer Session (12 PM ET) on BOTH days
- June 15, 2010 : Completed applications are due
- September 30, 2011 : Funding decisions will be announced via email
- January 1, 2012 : Funds will become available for use by grant recipients
- November 2011 : Cade Foundation Family Building Banquet (grant recipients are required to attend this)
- December 31, 2011 : Grants must have been used for fertility treatment or adoption.
All money that is not used by this date is forfeit and returned back to the Tinina Q. Cade Foundation.
